I adore series. I love to grow with characters and see where they end up. I love to dive into a world building fantasy that can just take my mind away from reality. I have compiled a list of some series to consider. I am planning to have a challenge (for myself) next year of reading different series. But for now, here are some to get you started.
( * means I have not read that book in the series)
A School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
Rise of the School for Good and Evil (book 0)
Fall of the School for Good and Evil (book 0.5)
The School for Good and Evil (book 1)
A World Without Princes (book 2)
The Last Ever After (Book 3)
Quests for Glory (book 4; Camelot years book1)
A Crystal of Time (book 5; Camelot years book 2)
One True King (book 6; Camelot years book 3)
I suggest you read the Rise of the School for Good and Evil and the Fall of the School for Good and Evil after reading at least the first 3 books. They will reveal some of the twists if you read book 0 and 0.5 first.
This is a fun, youth/YA Fantasy and fairytale retelling. You are introduced to so many new characters along side ones we already know and love. Chainani does a wonderful job and making you always questions what is going to happen. In a fairytale the good guy always wins....or does he?
Barrington Family Saga by Anita Stansfield
In Search of Heaven
A Quiet Promise
At Heaven's Door *
Promise of Zion *
Stansfield provides a charming story series following a family of pioneers on their journey to the west. They find faith and follow their promptings of the Holy Spirit while trudging through life's hardships.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (book 0)
The Hunger Games
Catching Fire
Mockingjay
I read this series after watching the movies (with the exception of book 0) and I still love both the movies and the books. This dystopian series makes you wonder what life would be like if the wrong people had power they should not have over other people. Another YA series to teach strength in oneself, girl power, friendship, love, and loyalty.
Mysteries of Cove by J Scott Savage
Fires of Invention
Gears of Revolution
Embers of Destruction
What if you lived in a community where dragons once existed, no one was able to invent things, and you could not go outside of your area...but you don't know why. In this youth series you follow young people who defy the rules and find out what is beyond their knowledge. That is how you gain knowledge after all...right?
The Lost Wonderland Diaries by J Scott Savage
The Lost Wonderland Diaries
Secrets of the Look Glass
This is a fun, familiar story with twists. These books are perfect for kids of all ages. I enjoyed them as an adult but I know kids that would love them too.
The Lunar Chronicles
The Empyrean Series by Rebecca Yarros
Fourth Wing
Iron Flame
This series (which is not complete yet) has become very popular and has a lot of hype...for good reason. These are so wonderful. There is world building in a hunger games meets Harry Potter type feel. The characters are so loveable. There are twists and shock and cliff hangers. There is quite a bit of spice in the books so I wouldn't suggest for young readers. I can't wait for the next installment of this series.
